Abu Dhabi to change 3pm start time?
Formula One news: Abu Dhabi to change 3pm start time? - GPUpdate.net Formula One
Quote:
Organisers of the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix have revealed that they are considering changing the start time of their race to a 'unique' hour, as opposed to the mid-afternoon slot of 3pm which is currently scheduled
The Yas Marina circuit, still currently 'work in progress', will make history by becoming the first to host a Grand Prix in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) when the season comes to a close on 1 November.
"At the moment the start time is 3pm," circuit chief Philippe Gurdjian confirmed to Autosport. "The final decision depends on Mr. Ecclestone (head of Formula One Management). We have a certain idea of what we would like to do, but I cannot yet tell you what it is! We have a very specific idea, and I hope we will be able to do it - but it would be as unique as the track."
By visiting the island for the first time this year, 2009 will see the first season finale to take place outside of Brazil for the first time since 2005.
