Default Ferrari all set to showcase hybrid Ferrari 599

Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo has confirmed that they would be displaying the hybrid edition of their 599 model at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show.
Ferrari has been long rumored to be working on hybrid technologies for their cars. The company has finally confirmed that they are going to showcase this prototype model.
Industry sources claim that Ferrari is using lithium batteries and an electric motor for this prototype model. The aim is to cut the fuel requirement of the car while cutting on emissions.

Experts believe that the company could also be using a technology similar to the KERS (kinetic energy recovery system) in this model. KERS was introduced in the last Formula-1 season.

The ‘greener’ Ferrari is expected to feature a lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor that will be paired with the 599’s 620hp 6.0 liter V12 powerplant. The hybrid should feature a fuel consumption figure of about 17 liters per 100 kilometers (compared to about 27 l/100km) which translates to savings of about 35%. Ferrari is also expected to fit a brake regeneration system as well as an engine start/stop technology. It may also add in an electric power boost function. A hybrid Ferrari? Why the heck not?
