Default Kubica officially on the market

Robert Kubica's manager says the Polish driver is "officially on the market" following BMW's decision to withdraw from Formula One.

BMW announced on Wednesday that they would be pulling out of the Championship at the end of this season, leaving both Kubica and team-mate Nick Heidfeld without a 2010 race-seat.

But while Heidfeld's contract was set to expire at the end of the campaign, Kubica still had another year to run on his deal with the German manufacturer.

"There was no sign inside the team that something like this could happen. We take note of it," his manager Daniele Morelli told the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.

"Robert was under contract until the end of 2010, but now he's officially on the market."
