At Spa-Francorchamps last weekend, the most ludicrous paddock theory was that F1's authorities had somehow given struggling teams a secret boost.
With Force India's Giancarlo Fisichella on pole and on the podium, and Toyota and BMW Sauber also doing well in their moment of need, wild speculation did the rounds amongst some that the teams had been given higher rev limits, stickier Bridgestone tyres, and/or a lower minimum weight limit... instead of simply congratulating the teams for their good work and efforts David Coulthard, a Grand Prix-winning veteran and now commentator for British TV, wrote in his column for the Daily Telegraph that he doesn't believe the hype. "Those scenarios would require the complicity of Bridgestone, mechanics/team personnel, the FIA. It would be impossible to keep such subterfuge under wraps," wrote the Scot, currently Red Bull's reserve driver and also a consultant to the energy drink-owned team. Regarding the 'crash-gate' speculation, Coulthard admitted the case is 'far more credible' but said even the suggestion that Nelson Piquet deliberately crashed in Singapore last year to help his teammate Fernando Alonso win the race is not likely. "Morally (...) it is off the scale," he declared. "It would (need) the complicity of a number of people -- the only evidence I can envisage would be radio communications, which are openly available to the FIA and the team. "Someone would surely have said something by now. As I say, I don't buy it," the 38-year-old added. "In any case, it is a shame that such speculation is detracting from what was another incredible weekend." F1 : Coulthard not buying conspiracy theories - COULTHARD - F1-Live.com |

But you have to admit that it has come as a shocking surprise for many. A team that could not even finish the races, let alone win points, suddenly manages to win.
And not to forget the Sauber's doing well. A pretty boring F1 season till now, and i won't put it past Bernnie to do some stunt like this to get the attention of the world ![]() ps: ok i don't quite believe all that i have said myself but its nice to have conspiracy theories

yeah especially since you need engine horse power for the long straights, not sure how the minnows did well.
the rev limit is really killing the top teams |

^ the fact remains that ferrari are almost always the first to reveal their car compared to the other teams. if they could spend more time on the car. it would do wonders.
