Default T.Glock sustains cut leg in high-speed qualifying crash

Quote:
Toyota’s Timo Glock suffered a minor cut to his left leg but escaped significant injury after crashing heavily during Saturday’s Q2 qualifying session for this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix.

Glock went wide as he exited Suzuka's final corner, ploughing through the gravel trap and burying the car in the tyre wall. With red flags out, medics were quickly in attendance and the German was extricated from the car. As he was stretchered into the waiting ambulance, he was seen waving and giving a thumbs-up to the crowds.

Complaining of back and leg pain, Glock was initially taken to the Suzuka circuit’s medical centre, before being helicoptered to the nearby Yokkaichi hospital for further precautionary checks. Toyota have confirmed that data from Glock's car showed no sign of a technical problem.

The session had only just restarted after an earlier crash for Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersuari at the Degner corner. The Spaniard was unhurt.
