Out-going team boss Mario Theissen is "delighted" with the FIA's decision to give Sauber the 13th place on the 2010 grid.
After announcing their withdrawal from F1, BMW sold the remaining stake in their BMW-Sauber F1 team to Peter Sauber. The deal, though, was dependent on the team being granted a place on next year's grid.
On Thursday, though, the FIA revealed that they had granted the position to Sauber, "subject to their signing the Concorde Agreement."
The decision has, naturally, been welcomed by Theissen, who is stepping down from his role as team boss in favour of staying on with BMW as their motorsport director.
"We are delighted that the FIA has granted our team the 13th place on the grid," said Theissen. "It brings to a close a difficult period of uncertainty for us.
"The team can now turn its full attention to preparing for the forthcoming season. We have no doubt that Peter Sauber and his team will justify their nomination through good performance, and we wish them all every success in the future."
