A new points system will be introduced for the 2010 Formula One season that rewards the top ten finishers in a race.

The decision was made following a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in Monaco on Friday.

The race winner will claim 25 points, the runner-up 20, third place 15, fourth place 10, fifth place will take eight, and then sixth to 10th would earn six, five, three, two and one point respectively.

"Due to the expanded grid of 13 teams, and further to the recommendation of the F1 Commission, a new points system will be in place for the 2010 season," read a statement issued by the FIA.

still sucks.. as some one said as a ratio the points are still similar.. they should give the winner a massive % advantage
