Schumi's GP2 run gets underway

Michael Schumacher climbed behind the wheel of a single-seater for the first time since his aborted Ferrari comeback, testing a GP2 car at Jerez on Tuesday.

The seven-time World Champion, who is making a return to Formula One this season after a three-year absence, had been asked by GP2 organiser Bruno Michel to assist in developing their 2010 car.

As such, the German took to the Jerez track early on Tuesday morning, putting in the laps as he familiarised himself with the GP2 machine.

Schumacher's test, which will run for three days, will see the Mercedes GP driver focusing on the evaluation of a number of suspension set-ups as well as other components for the new car.
