Campos denies his F1 team is up for sale
Quote:
Adrian Campos has denied that his Formula One team's future is on the line, saying Campos Meta will be present at the season-opening Bahrain GP.
Recent reports have cast doubt over the team's participation this season, with finances being touted as a major concern. So much so that Campos could sell up before even turning a wheel in anger.
"It is not a secret that we do not have the budget - and time is scarce," a team insider told German website motorsport-total.com.
"If we can find a good investor, we could sell part of the team to them. If necessary, we could sell the whole team, but the basic conditions would have to be right."
However, Campos insists that while he is looking for a shareholder, he is not willing to sell a stake in his F1 team.
"We will be at the first race," he told BBC Sport. "We are talking with people who would like to be shareholders. We expect to have more investors.
"People speak too much and make trouble for us.
"I don't want to sell my part of the team and I will remain the team principal - the condition to be a shareholder is to accept all the existing contracts.
"We are looking for investors and sponsors but the project is very much alive."
Meanwhile, Dallara, who are building Campos Meta's 2010 challenger, have refuted claims that the team is behind in payments.
"It is not true, not from our side at least," said Dallara chief executive officer Andrea Pontremoli. "We are still proceeding to build the car and it has passed its crash tests."
