Default McLaren unveil their MP4-25

McLaren unveiled their 2010 challenger on Friday, stating rather confidently that their goal this season is the win the World titles.

With new signing Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton on the payroll, McLaren enter this year's campaign with the two most recent World Champions behind the wheel of the MP4-25.

The car features several changes to last year's machine due to the new 2010 regulations, such as the ban on refueling and the narrower front tyres. It also incorporates the double-decker diffuser that caused so much controversy at the start of 2009 before it was deemed legal.

"We at McLaren have prepared more comprehensively than ever before," said team boss Martin Whitmarsh. "The car is the product of many man-hours spent dedicated to performance.

"It seems every year F1 racing throws up a set of unique challenges and this year is no exception.

"We've had the opportunity to design a car with the double decker diffuser in mind. Narrower front tyres provide challenges and opportunities for the designers as they will with the drivers."

And it's those drivers, the first time in F1 history that McLaren have had consecutive World Champions on the payroll, that has Whitmarsh eagerly anticipating a great season ahead for McLaren.

"We are all excited about the 2010 season. Our goal is clear, we aim to win."

Following Whitmarsh on to the stage was Hamilton and Button, who took the covers off the new car, the MP4-25.

"I feel so proud because I had quite a bit of input. I can't wait to get on the track with it I'm sure it's going to handle completely different to last year's car - at least I hope so. I think this is going to be very special," said Hamilton.

Asked about his new team-mate Button, the duo quickly hugged one another before Hamilton stated that he has welcomed Button with open arms, adding that to "finally be in the same team as him and to have both won a World Championship is a great partnership for McLaren."

Meanwhile, reigning F1 World Champ Button added: "Already concentrating on 2010 and the new challenge. January has been great but I can't wait for February to start so that I can drive this car."
