Toro Rosso drivers Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari are feeling confident ahead of the 2010 season, hopeful that it will herald renewed success.
The 2009 season was Buemi's first in Formula One, and while the Swiss driver managed to score points in his debut race, he proceeded to struggle thereafter.
However, Buemi believes that that experienced garnered from his first season will see him perform at a higher level in 2010.
"To be honest, I feel a lot more confident," Buemi told Autosport.
"First of all, I know almost all of the circuits - although Korea and Montreal will be new - and I feel a lot more confident because I know how a weekend goes. That was not the case in the past.
"Being with the same team, the same mechanics, the same engineers and working with the same people again is a really good point. It's difficult to know what we will be able to achieve because we don't know the performance of the other guys, but I feel quite confident," he added.
Having made his debut midway through last season, this week's test in Valencia will mark the first time that Alguersuari has driven in testing conditions, with the in-season testing ban having prevented him from doing so last year.
"Last year, every Grand Prix was a test, which was a big disadvantage," the Spaniard explained to the official Toro Rosso website.
"I've been doing a lot of training in Austria and Spain with my personal trainer, which means we had plenty of time to get in good shape for the season.
"That doesn't mean the job is going to be much easier than last year, because F1 is always tough. But I do feel I can be more competitive and better prepared. Last year, everything happened so fast and I didn't know the car, the circuits or the team. This year, I will get to drive for several days before the first race, while last year I had no testing at all," he added.
