Schumi's doc no longer on stand-by
Quote:
Michael Schumacher has confirmed that his doctor is no longer on stand-by as he has recovered from his neck injury.
The seven-time World Champion injured his neck a year ago in a motorbike accident, putting paid to plans for his to replace Felipe Massa mid-way through last year's Championship.
With his neck on the mend, Schumacher went on to sign a three-year contract with Mercedes GP and began testing for his new team earlier this month at Valencia.
But there were some concerns when his doctor, Johannes Peil, attended the opening test session at Valencia.
The doctor, however, skipped the next test at Jerez with Schumacher confirming that his presence is no longer required.
"He was in Valencia to do some checks, as he has been with me very often in the past," Schumacher told the official F1 website.
"We wanted to make sure I am best prepared, and obviously I am, as we both didn't see the necessity to have him join me in Jerez."
