Default Stefanovic: Stefan GP will be on the grid

Stefan GP boss Zoran Stefanovic is confident his team will be on the grid when the F1 season starts in Bahrain next month.

With just over two weeks to go before the season starts, Stefan GP doesn't have entry into the Championship but with the futures of Campos Meta and USF1 still undecided, the Serbian outfit could yet find a place on the grid.

The team's preparations, though, took a knock earlier this week when their planned test had to be cancelled due to a lack of tyres. But despite the hiccup - and no entry - Stefanovic firmly believes his team will be in action in Bahrain.

"Definitely, we are waiting for something to happen because the time is very short and the deadline for Bahrain is approaching," Stefanovic told Reuters.

"If you are going to Bahrain you have to be packed by next Wednesday and we think we will be able to reach something by then."

Asked if his team could perhaps join the grid later in the year, the Serbian businessman added: "Technically it's possible but we are going to be in Bahrain. We are not saying it's for sure, but we are looking forward to it."

The team, though, could face a serious obstacle in Ferrari, who recently referred to Stefan GP as "vultures", as all existing teams will have agree to it before the team can race.

But should they get the go-ahead, Michael Schumacher won't the only past World Champ joining the grid as Stefanovic revealed that it is only a matter of time before Jacques Villeneuve signs on as Kazuki Nakajima's team-mate.

"It's not happened yet but everything except his signature had been done," he said. "Probably in the next two or three days, we will be reaching some sort of an agreement."
