Barrichello: Competitive and motivated
Rubens Barrichello insists he is feeling both competitive and motivated ahead of his 18th season in Formula One.
Having made his debut back in 1993 with Jordan, Barrichello holds the record for the most grand prix starts, 284, and last year found himself the oldest driver on the grid. Despite his age, though, Barrichello also found himself tussling for the World title with his Brawn GP team. In the end he finished third in the Drivers' Championship, losing out to team-mate Jenson Button and Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel. This year his chances of fighting for the World title have taken a dip after the Brazilian swapped Brawn GP for Williams F1 but that doesn't mean he's lost any of his motivation. "I look at myself in the mirror and I feel I am competitive, so as long as I feel that," the 37-year-old. "I've been so honest about myself to people. The day I feel I go a bit too fast, then I will stop quite soon after that. "But right now, I don't know when I'm going to stop because I am so enthusiastic about it. "I am so motivated, and sometimes I scare myself with that." Barrichello will no longer be the oldest driver in F1 this season as both Pedro de la Rosa (39) and Michael Schumacher (41) have a few years on the Williams racer. Damn i wonder when he plans to hang his boots, not that i have anything against him. But he needs to let the newer gen to take over now.
