Drivers who have been hoping for a bit of sunshine following wet conditions in Europe will get their wish and then some in Bahrain this weekend.

Testing in Jerez and Barcelona were severely disrupted by rain over the past few weeks, but weather conditions will be the opposite for this season's inaugural race in the Middle East.

Early forecasts suggest temperatures will be in the 30s for most of the weekend and the mercury is expected to climb to 36 degrees Celsius on race day.

For the old guard it won't be anything new. Conditions were also extreme last year and it was a physically draining experience for Fernando Alonso. The former Renault driver's drink pump failed during the race and he went 57 laps without a drop of water.

He was so dehydrated after the race that he had to be helped out of his car. Let's hope he doesn't experience similar problems with his Ferrari car this year.
