Default A dry race for Hungary

If there's one thing the Hungaroring desperately needs to stop the race being a procession, it's rain. Unfortunately, none is expected this Sunday.

The drivers will arrive in Budapest on Thursday to sweltering conditions with the temperature reaching 36'C. And that won't be the last of the very, very hot days.

Friday's practice sessions will take place in bright sunny conditions with the air temperature sitting at 34'C.

Overnight, though, the weather will change dramatically with the BBC's weather forecast predicting heavy rain with a maximum temperature of 25'C.

The rain is expected to move on quickly with skies on Sunday bright and clear. A maximum temperature of 27'C is forecast for the race.

Formula One news: Hungary weather update: Cooler than usual - GPUpdate.net Formula One

Quote:
A traditionally hot and humid race, this year's Hungarian Grand Prix could prove to delivery some cooler temperatures than expected as weather forecasts predict Thursday to be the hottest day of the weekend.

The general thinking up and down the pit lane is that championship leaders Brawn GP are more likely to enjoy a positive race in hotter conditions whereas the Red Bull Racing squad, as we saw in China, Britain and Germany, can generate tyre temperatures more easily, particularly on sub-20 degree track surfaces; no such readings are expected at the Hungaroring although, with the ambient temperatures expected to decrease over the course of the weekend, things could be evenly matched at the front.

Weather indications predict Thursday to have air temperatures of a more than pleasant 36°C (97°F), despite some cloud cover, whereas numbers are expected to drop as low as 27°C (81°F) on Sunday; although these temperatures can still be classed as warm, the changeable conditions and consequent effects on tyres could catch out an unsuspecting few.
