Lewis Hamilton bagged pole position in Ferrari's backyard but Saturday's qualifying belonged to Adrian Sutil.

Hamilton, who had tussled with Sutil in earlier practice sessions, losing out to the Force India driver, got his car to really work when it counted the most, taking pole position for Sunday's Italian GP with a 1:24.066.

Sutil, despite a valiant effort, had to settle for second place, just 0.195s behind Hamilton while his new team-mate Tonio Liuzzi also impressed claiming seventh place on the grid.

Ferrari fans, though, did have something to cheer about as Kimi Raikkonen put his F60 up into third place, sparking hope amongst the crowd of a Ferrari victory at Monza.

Heikki Kovalainen was fourth quickest while Rubens Barrichello was the leading Championship contender in fifth place, just ahead of his team-mate Jenson Button.

As for the Red Bulls, they were ninth and tenth while new Ferrari signing Giancarlo Fisichella qualified in 14th place.

Force India doing really well, and that too consistently for the past few races. THe car is definitely competitive at the top. Now I hope one of the BMW drivers would switch to Force India at the end of the season.

Good day so far for Brawns, Hamilton and Force India.
After first round of pits, Brawns take 1,2, Hamilton, liuzzi and Raiko(who missed out in the pits)
Sutil at 7th behind Alonso.
