Race results - Brawn bounce back with one-two at Monza

Rubens Barrichello has won the Italian Grand Prix, beating Brawn team mate Jenson Button by 2.8s, cutting Button's championship lead to 14 points in the process. Kimi Raikkonen took the final podium spot for Ferrari after McLaren's Lewis Hamilton crashed out of third place on the final lap.

Fourth went to Force India's Adrian Sutil, followed by Renault's Fernando Alonso and McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen.

Fisichella finished 9th on his debut race with Ferrari, not too bad I guess

Rubens Barrichello took another chunk out of team-mate Jenson Button’s championship lead as he led an emphatic Brawn GP 1-2 in Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix.

The Brawn duo used superior one-stop strategies to overhaul the two-stopping McLaren of Lewis Hamilton, which led the early stages from pole position.

Having qualified ahead of Button, Barrichello was best-placed to lead the one-stop challenge and kept close enough to Hamilton to breeze past him when the world champion made his second pit visit.

Hamilton dropped to third behind Button, but chased his countryman for all he was worth in the closing stages before dramatically crashing on the final lap at the exit of the first Lesmo corner.

The accident littered debris all over the circuit, meant the race finished under the control of the safety car, and promoted Kimi Raikkonen to a surprise podium finish for Ferrari.

The Finn passed front-row starter Adrian Sutil on the run to the first corner and – in a virtual carbon copy of Giancarlo Fisichella’s charge at Spa – relied on his KERS power to keep the otherwise faster Force India at bay for the rest of the race.

Sutil harried Raikkonen all the way but had to make do with fourth place, easily the best result of his young F1 career.

Fernando Alonso had a lonely race to fifth for Renault ahead of a disappointing Heikki Kovalainen, who tumbled down the order in the first few laps and never recovered the lost ground.
