Grid penalty for 5 drivers for finishing a flying lap under yellow flags.

Quote:
The stewards at Suzuka have been busy following Saturday's qualifying session. A large number of drivers completed a flying lap while yellow flags were waved. The stewards punished Jenson Button, Rubens Barrichello, Fernando Alonso, Adrian Sutil and Sebastien Buemi with a five place drop on the grid.

As a result of the given penalties Nick Heidfeld will start Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix from fourth on the grid, with Kimi Raikkonen in fifth.

The grid penalties will surely make the championship even more interesting as Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello (1st and 2nd in the championship) are well behind on pole man Sebastian Vettel who is currently third in the championship. Even though Vettel is 25 points behind with three races to go there is still a small chance for the German to win the championship this season.

That has sent the Brawns further behind Vettel. If Vettel can finish on P1 tomorrow, with the Brawns (especially Button) not finishing with points, then he still has a realistic chance of winning the World Championship.
