Default Virgin: Finally, some decent track time for Glock

Virgin's tech boss Nick Wirth is confident the fledgling team's reliability issues are a thing of the past.

Virgins' first foray into Formula One has been anything but smooth running as reliability issues at last week's Jerez test where not helped by a general lack of parts.

The team returned to the Spanish track this week where Wednesday's action saw more of last week's frustration as a 'tricky' hydraulic kept Timo Glock in the garage for much of the day. In fact, Glock managed just 10 laps on Wednesday.

Day Two, though, was a lot better for the team with Glock racking up 72 laps and setting the eighth best time of the 12 runners.

"We needed it," Wirth told Autosport at the end of Thursday's play.

"Yesterday (Wednesday) was a real challenge, the problems we had were tricky, not ones we had experienced before and it just required a lot of thinking.

"We eventually found the problem, but too late to get going. There was a lot of work last night to fix that problem and get everything ready for today - try and regroup and have a good day today.

"Timo had a very frustrating week last week, so it was nice to finally get him in. He seems to enjoy driving the car; he's got a big smile on his face today.

"The whole team, everybody put in a continuous effort and it's nice to finally see that rewarded. I just wish the poor guy could get some dry laps."
