Default Horner: Seb powerless to stop Ferrari

Red Bull boss Christian Horner admits the team lost great opportunity to start the season off with victory in the Bahrain GP.

Sebastian Vettel was comfortably leading the race with 20 laps to go when he reported a loss of power over his team radio. He then had to watch as the Ferraris of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton's McLaren disappeared in front of him.

Vettel later lamented his bad luck, saying they "should have won really".

Team boss Horner echoed his charge's comments, but says they are nevertheless thankful to have picked up 12 points.

"It was cruel luck with Sebastian today," he said. "He drove a great race and was pulling away at the front. We had a very good pit stop with him and he was controlling the lead comfortably until lap 33, when he had a sudden loss of power.

"He was then powerless to defend to the Ferraris and Hamilton, but he drove extremely well to retain fourth position. It gives us valuable points, but ultimately it's very disappointing to lose such a great opportunity for a victory. "

Although it was initially reported that an exhaust was to blame, Horner says they still have to determine the cause.

"We don't at the moment know whether it's exhaust or something else because it was intermittent," he said on the BBC. "We need to get the car back and understand it."
