Sébastien Buemi

Sébastien Buemi (Born on October 31, 1988 in Aigle) is a Swiss racing driver, who will compete for Scuderia Toro Rosso in Formula One in 2009. On September 18, 2007 he drove the Red Bull RB3 at the F1 test session in Jerez. He was third quickest on the day, behind Timo Glock (BMW) and Vitantonio Liuzzi (Toro Rosso) but ahead of names such as Rubens Barrichello (Honda) and Nelson Piquet Jr. (Renault).

On January 16, 2008 Red Bull confirmed Buemi as their test and reserve driver for the 2008 season. At the 2008 Japanese Grand Prix, Buemi drove the medical car as usual driver Dr Jacques Tropenat had been suffering from an ear problem. On September 19, 2008 Toro Rosso announced that they will most likely sign Buemi as their driver for 2009 season. This signing was confirmed on January 9, 2009. He will be the first Swiss driver to take part in an F1 race since Jean-Denis Délétraz drove for Pacific at the 1995 European Grand Prix.
